The Fika Spice Story

Fika Spice began long before it became a business.

For more than 30 years, Holly and John Ellenson had been adding spices to their coffee. Holly’s Swedish family heritage and the tradition of fika helped inspire an everyday ritual built around flavor, coffee, and taking time to pause.

Then family life provided an unexpected spark.

After their four children married within a short period of time, John and Holly wanted to give their growing family something personal for Christmas.

They packaged the spice blend they loved into jars, added a simple label, and gave Fika Spice as a gift.

The response was enthusiastic:

“You need to sell this.”

What began as a family Christmas gift eventually became Fika Spice LLC—a family-owned Wisconsin company built around something remarkably simple:

Great flavor. A cup of coffee. And taking a little time for one another.

Meet the Founders

Holly and John Ellenson

Fika Spice™ was founded by husband-and-wife team Holly and John Ellenson in Wisconsin.

Before starting Fika Spice, John spent his career working with children and families as an elementary school counselor. Holly spent her career in education, physical education, and coaching.

Together, they turned a longtime family coffee ritual into a new adventure:
